So with fat Tuesday coming around, my friend Kate is on a mission to find this stuff called punchkies. They are some sort of polish donuts that are suppose to be the best things in the world. They actually celebrate the day up at her school in Wisconsin and take the day off to go find some and eat. She is new to Chicago though, so she is not exactly sure where to look, is has been through the Bucktown Chicago Neighborhood Guild front to back and I do not think she has found anything. The thing about them is that they are only sold one day a year, fat Tuesday. So if she misses her chance to get some, she will have to wait until next year. And I cannot tell a lie here, I am somewhat curious myself as to what exactly is the big deal about these donuts. She has been telling me for the past week how much I will love them, but that may just be to get a ride to where ever she finds a bakery. I do not mind of course, and she promises to buy me a couple too so I figure there is no harm as long as it is close by.
