Tommy used to believe that the San Antonio Spurs were the greatest basketball or sporting team in all the world.  Why?  Because they used to call their star, hall of fame player David Robinson “Mister Robinson” and talked about “Mister Robinson’s Neighborhood” a lot.  Naturally, Tommy associated this with Mister Rogers from PBS and thought that David Robinson must be the friendliest basketball player and athlete on the planet.  As you might imagine, Tommy is a little slow.  He doesn’t have Down Syndrome or any learning disabilities.  He simply is far too gullible and simple-minded than any 20-year old should be.  Ironically, he always did well in school, especially in math or science or any subject where he can just memorize and reel off facts and formulas.  He struggled in English though and history and any subject where he had to write out an essay and argue and prove a point.  His mind just couldn’t connect all the dots and bring out a coherent argument.  He had a lot of trouble linking historical events, seeing how one lead to another and how they were all important in a larger context.  It was all just beyond him.
